Reinvigorating the Nuclear Industrial Base

This executive order (14202) seeks to rebuild the U.S. nuclear energy sector by expanding domestic uranium enrichment and fuel reprocessing capabilities, restarting or completing shuttered plants, and accelerating construction of new advanced reactors. It invokes the Defense Production Act to establish voluntary agreements with private companies and stabilize the nuclear fuel supply chain. It also includes grants, loans, and federal coordination with state and local partners to expand nuclear workforce training through voluntary programs. While the order encourages faster reactor development through regulatory relief and financing tools, it does not direct federal agencies to override state or local zoning, permitting, or building authority.
