Empowering Commonsense Wildfire Prevention and Response

This order (14308) removes federal barriers that hinder fast local response to wildfires and promotes technology-enabled, locally led land management. It directs Department of Interior and Department of Agriculture to streamline federal wildfire programs, expand voluntary partnerships with state, local, tribal, and community entities, and incentivize prevention efforts. Agencies must develop a wildfire technology roadmap and adopt risk-informed strategies consistent with Achieving Efficiency Through State and Local Preparedness (Executive Order 14239). The order also calls for rolling back federal rules that restrict prescribed burns, retardant use, and utility fire prevention practices, and directs Department of Justice to ensure litigation strategies support mitigation.
